Brian McCann Gets it Done at the Shootout. 05/05/2011
Brian McCann of Mississauga, ON birdied his final 5 holes to post a 4 under par 67 to win the Great Lakes Tour Pre Season Shootout held at the par 71 Hidden Lake New Course in Burlington, ON. The Shootout was originally scheduled for April 19th, but was postponed due to inclement weather and rescheduled for today.
After a not so great first nine of 37, Brian parred the first 4 holes of his second nine than finished with a flurry of birdies on holes 5,6,7,8, and a near hole in one on the par 3 ninth. McCann's 67 was one shot better than Burlington's Michael Gligic and London's Gareth Raflewski.... Add Comment Alan Mclean Wins at Grey Silo 04/26/2011
![]() photo courtesy of GLT Alan Mclean of London, ON, was victorious earlier today at Grey Silo Golf Club in North Waterloo, ON. Mclean fired a bogey free 5 under par 66 on the par 71 6532 yard course. The weather conditions and not so perfect start to spring left the Grey Silo Club in a very damp state. Add 35km/h east winds with occasional rain and you have a tough test of golf. Mclean made birdies on holes 1, 5, 9, 13, and 17 which was good enough to secure the victory by two shots over Michael Gligic of Burlington, ON. Mclean received $1750 for the victory and jumps out to an early lead on the GLT Order of Merit and the Race to the Moe Norman Cup. The next event on The Great Lakes Tour is scheduled for Tuesday May 10th at Heron Point Golf Links in Ancaster, ON. Photos Courtesy: GLT On Monday March 28, 2011 the Canadian Professional Golfer’s Association introduced a new National Player Rankings. There will be many media outlets across the country commenting, blogging, and writing about this new program from the CPGA. As a player that plays both CPGA events and Mini Tour events, I feel there are significant flaws in the ranking system and I wonder if the CPGA has thought through what they have actually created… Since my site is dedicated to Canadian Grass Roots Golf, this short 4 minute flick by an anonymous creator is well worth the watch. It was created through Xtranormal a text to animated movie builder. It's a unique site and as a Mini Tour player myself, this individual hits on a lot of topics and cracks jokes towards a few players, who I'm sure would laugh just as hard as the guys who created it. Enjoy the movie and let me know what you think. Here's a great new feature I have been introduced to. This will be a new blog format I will showcase from time to time when the topic is worthy of it. This is a reel showcasing my highlights from the Toronto Golf Show, where we were displaying the Golf Town National Amateur Series and getting lots of interest for the upcoming season. Enjoy the Prezi and it's best viewed in full screen mode. Feel free to leave a comment and let me know what you think. The second full season for the Golf Town National Amateur Series (GTNAS) is shaping up to be an exciting and competitive one across the country. Golf Canada handed out two more 2012 exemptions into their National Championships for the GTNAS finale to be held later this September... ![]() Rod Spittle Rod Spittle is truly an inspiring story on many levels. Spittle was a great amateur player who went against turning professional at an early age, and chose a career in the insurance business. In 2004 he turned professional to get his game in shape for a shot at the Champions Tour. Looking at it, the Champions Tour is most likely the toughest tour to qualify for and has to be one of the most competitive tours as well. With only 8 players gaining full exempt status in their qualifying school, and only 60 players earning a year's privilege through the Tour's money list. It is truly remarkable that Rod Spittle is making a mark on the Champions Tour... Rod Spittle originally from St. Catharines, ON is searching for his second Champions Tour victory in the first full field event of the season. In the final round of the Allianz Championship, Spittle will be teeing it up with former British Open Champion Tom Lehman and long time European Tour player Peter Senior...
